I Have DIY Sharpened My Clipper Blade 

• If its just a few light strokes on a diamond stone then buying normal sharpening is OK.
• If you have been trying quite hard with DIY sharpening then the cost of sharpening is £10.
• If you have been trying very hard then probably we probably wont be able to correct it.

 

DIY Clipper Blade sharpening on a flat (ish) surface will round the blade surface down at the edges

• Sharpening on a flat stone or sandpaper makes the faces of the clipper blade convex (rounded down toward the edges)
• The more effort you spend DIY sharpening then the more rounded the blade becomes.
• A few light strokes on a diamond stone will not make much difference (though its still not good).
• Sandpaper is the worst and will quickly make the blade surface very rounded.

When the inside surface of your clipper blade becomes rounded down to the edges (convex) then this must be corrected during sharpening to make the surface flat again.
If you have rounded the edges a lot then it becomes too much work to correct and we won’t sharpen it.

Question – I have seen an article online about how to my sharpen clipper blades ?
Answer –  While it may be nice to believe these articles, sadly when you try using the blades they wont work very well.

Question – I have sharpened my blades and they are cutting but wont run through the hair ?
Answer – They wont run through the hair because they are not cutting it.
